IWSG: Visiting a blog

Hola and Hello my readers

Anastasia here. This is my first post after joining in the blog hop of IWSG: Insecure Writers Support Group. Every month there would be a question and I'm supposed to wite about it here. This group supports writers.

Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG.

February 7 question: What turns you off when visiting an author's website/blog? Lack of information? A drone of negativity? Little
mention of author's books? Constant mention of books?

You can find a lot of cool and amazing people here:

Co-hosts for the February 7 posting of the IWSG are Janet Alcorn, SE White, Victoria Marie Lees, and Cathrina Constantine!

When I visit a website or a blog, the first thing I checknis the attractiveness. By that, I don't surely want it to be the perfect aesthetic looking website. What I mean is, I should feel to stay in there. Either it should be simple and humble, crazy, aesthetic or just what requires to please. Standard way of keeping a website than leaving it untidy like a teenager's room is the better thing. When people open my website, there is this simple thing with just black and white. The logo simply goes in with the whole picture of the website.

Then, my eye goes to the about section. I want to read about the writer. I want to know what are their choices and likes. For me, I love stories and I truly appreciate them. Even if there is nothing on the about section, I continue my journey to the titles of the last couple of posts.

I hate it when it's all the same thing repeated.

After I open one post and start to read, if it feels boring, I get out of there. There some of these posts in which writers go blabbering the same sentence or just simply blabbering about something. That something is always an advertisement, just an add of some product that we would never need.

Writing a lot about depression is creepy. Writing much about only negativity is irritating. People don't come to get sad, afraid and just want to die! They come for thrill, action, fantasy, romance and ADVENTURE.

I love it when people talk about their works proudly. They are people with self-respect. But when they go beyond the universe, its just self-respect and there might not be any kind of respects at all. When writers talk about their work, it inspires this young girl. I love it when they share struggles and sadness. But like as for anything, there is a limit to all.

I really don't know what to say about information. There should be some scope of imagination and information from reality. What is a blog post without any of it?

I try to appreciate and take inspiration. Comparing isn't something to do. I just look into it and find the good on the blog. I try to find the interesting things about it.

I leave sites when they have long and laggy posts.

There are lot of bloggers out there who creates amazing reading experiences. And not all kinds of readers like all of it.

I'm not a good writer or reader to say any of these. But I'm learning. Amd I'm willing to. I'm so happy posting even though therebis literally 3 or 4 people reading. But 4 are reading ! I don't care what a rookie I am. All I know is that I love writing. I love expressing myself (to am extent). I love this. This keeps me happy

  1. Agree with the idea that an author's website should be interesting. It is surprising how many writers, whatever their talents on the book page, don't put forth the effort on the web page.
