The Comic Writer

Jada McAllister was a vibrant girl living in the small town of Los Angelos or the so called LA. She lived with her daddy and mom. The girl was born on a fine sunrise of 13th October in the year 2021. This makes her 15 years old.

She always used to wonder why the hell she called her father ‘daddy’ with a ‘y’ and her mother ‘mom’ without a ‘y’. She wanted to address her mom ‘mommy’ but, her mother being a ‘Karen’, she just couldn’t. She used to claim that her maternal grandparents had a time machine because they named their daughter; her mother Karen. Karen Lily McAllister was the most approached lawyer despite her being a ‘Karen’.

Zooming into Robert Killian McAllister, we could see that he’s a principal at JH Middle-School. This might have been one of the reasons Jada Catherine McAllister felt grateful for getting into high school. Mr. McAllister was for some reason, Jada’s best friend even though she found pleasure in leaving Middle school. He had the honor of giving Jada her first nick name which was ‘Stan Lee’. You see, Mr. McAllister was a huge fan of Spider-Man, the all-time famous superhero. It wouldn’t be surprising if he names his daughter who loves to write comics ‘Stan-Lee’.

When a person enters the McAllister's house, the would spot a single photo frame above the fireplace where we can see the picture of a perfect American family. Robert and Karen stood on either sides of Jada. Karen looked a modern lady in a lawyer's suit and Robert stood like a typical American headmaster with a long tie and sensitive glasses. And as for Jada, by looks she wasn’t much. Short hair, glasses, track suits, tee and flips. Jada was just not interested in make-up. She didn’t like much shining every day all through her face. Even though her mother went to the best parlors and used the best make-up products, she wasn’t just interested. Even if Mrs. McAllister would compel her, she wouldn’t. But for some reason, Jada loved lipsticks and lip glosses. She’d only use the cinnamon nude shade though. She made lip glosses herself. 1 table spoon of Vaseline, 3 teaspoons of Aloe Vera, 2 table spoons of almond oil and her lip gloss was ready. She wouldn’t add color. Being a make-up lover, it was none other than Mrs. McAllister who taught Jada to make lip glosses. Talking about accessories, Jada would only wear ear rings and one ring on her index.

She didn’t wear the ring until the age of thirteen. It was treasure to her. Her paternal grandmother Alice Jada McAllister gave it to her on her thirteenth birthday. Seeing that ring on her index, some kids at school would pass on rumors about her. That ring was perfectly round. It had a diamond on the middle. It was a classy marriage ring. When some random guy goes 'Yo, that ain'ta wedding ring, is it?', she can olnly say 'Good guessing'. It was a wedding ring. Though wedding rings are supposed to be seen at the ring fingers, it had only seen the index. Alice wore it in the index and so did Jada. Because that wasn't Alice's wedding ring.Back in the 1970’s, Alice was a 15 year old girl. She was the exact popular girl which movies refer to. Being the blonde cheerleader, there were a lot of drama in her life. It was 1976 when she had fell in love with a new kid. One fine day, all her fame and hype had turned to joke and gossips. That one day was in the year 1977. It was because of the fact that she had a wedding band on her index. But Alice Killian, who was then addressed by the bullies as Alice Ice, didn’t care. It was a promise Raven Ice made that one day, the ring would move from the index finger to the ring finger. Maybe it wasn’t just meant to be because Raven Ice was shot dead in the school at 1977, November. Alice was lucky to have escaped being shot in the shoulder. For Alice, she wished if she were dead. Alice moved on; still with the ring on her index. That ring was something that made her see things beyond popularity and it was definitely something which had brought her to the reality. She married Darren McAllister at the age of 25. He was the man who would let his wife wear the wedding band some boy gave to his girl in the index, which was one finger away to the wedding band he gave to the women of his life. Alice wanted her granddaughter to keep it. No matter how hard Jada thought, she didn’t knew why and to ask Alice herself, she had left the world even before Jada turned thirteen.

Jada was the 14 year old ghost in the high school in the beginning days. But later on, her comics brought all attention to her. She’d write the funniest comics inspired from the teachers at high school. One Mr. Cooper, the English teacher always took interests on reading her comics even if he was portrayed as the ‘Donkey’. Mr. Cooper was known for walking slow. High school teens never think of tortoise anyway. But Jada’s best sellers were the series ‘Lover’. Those series telling different love stories of every kid in the high school was read by everyone. Gossips are endured than the stories.

Jada enjoyed writing stories. One story she never spoke about not to anyone was her grandmother’s ring. She never loved that love story. It was sad. Raven Ice was an innocent. What scratches her head is the question why it was given to her. After her grandmother passed away, Jada’s parents had always let her know that it was okay to remove the ring if she wanted to. Jada wanted to. But there was something with the story of that ring. She couldn’t just turn aside from a story, a mystery of love. But how would she find out. She know nothing except her grandmother’s and her grandmother’s old flames names. One Alice Killian and Raven Ice. How can she possibly find things from that? There wasn’t social media back then.

The summer holidays were nearing. Jada still kept thinking about the ring. She decided to talk to her mate Abigail about the matter. Abigail Carl and her brother were the only red heads in the school. She was fair; blue eyed and a smart lady. Abigail lived in a family of four. She had an older brother and then her parents. Their friendship wasn’t normal. Jada and Abigail were totally different people but yet they turned out to be the best beasties in the high school. It was only then Abigail knew the real reason of her friend to wear a wedding ring on the index. Abigail had always thought that it was one of her friend’s psychological tricks to keep away from boys. Jada never wanted any boys around her, that was true. She had great friends but never wanted to get a glow up and slay like her beastie. Jada just wanted to go about on her day. Abigail wasn’t buying anything. Abigail said it’d take a lot of time so it would be better to start the investigation on the summer vacation. But to the horror of Jada’s life, Abigail’s demand was for Jada to go to the winter ball the very next day. According to Jada's typical behaviour she is not to agree to it. Besides, Jada thought that she had escaped last year’s ball and this year she didn’t even have a partner and what the hell was she supposed to do?

‘Who do you think will come with me?’ Jada asked Abigail for reason. ‘My brother’- Abigail said grinning. Jada stood dumbstruck. ‘He’s been dying to ask you’- Abigail continued excitedly. ‘But he’s 17!’ Jada shouted. ‘Is that a problem?’ asked Abigail and Jada nodded negatively. Jada was just simply aatonished. She had never even imagined it. Kevin Carl, having a crush on her? That was insane! Some days they'd just walk past each other simply cocking their head with the familiarity because of Abigail.

Kevin Carl was popular for his leadership in soccer. He was the apple in the eye for all teachers. Cap Carl was how he was addressed. Just like his sister being the most beautiful, he was the most handsome one. Jada would have all the jealous looks after the next day. That evening, Kevin Carl officially asked Jada McAllister to the ball and the news spread through the school. Jada couldn’t deny when Kevin asked it straight to her face. There were people around them. Why could she deny?Girls in the school were totally freaking out. The Comic Writer with their Cap?

Jada’s mother was proud about her daughter. As soon as she heard, she took Jada to the finest shops and bought her the most magnificent blue lined dress.

That night when Jada was about to close her diary, she heard something. She got up from her bed and pulled the curtains away. She almost screamed but she recognized the red hair. He left a note and hurried off waving. It said nothing but excited to see you tomorrow. Good Night J. She never knew Kevin had a crush on her. Jada’s eyes just widened. She kept the note on her diary and closed it.

The next morning, her mother had left facial masks for her. Jada was ordered to put the navy blue nail polish. Her mother came back early from work and gave Jada a transformation. Jada got lenses for the first time that day. Her hair only had a blue ribbon. She felt a lot of pressure when she looked at the mirror to see the final look.

When she got down in front of the school, everyone had eyes on her. Abigail waved with one hand from a distance clutching the other hand to George Acorn’s arms. She was in scarlet dress. Kevin walked to Jada and they looked more couple-like with Jada on heels. Jada’s eyes said she were nervous. Kevin just smiled on Jada’s nervous jerky body language. The boyfriend-girlfriend thing freaked her.  Jada clutched onto his arms and he led them to behind the school. He asked her not to get nervous. He then said ‘You look-’ he stopped. ‘I can’t get any words’ he said. Jada just smiled. His eyes met her ring. For some reason, she felt she can tell him. She narrated the whole story. ‘We’ll find it’ he said. ‘We?’ asked Jada. That’s when Abigail came and dragged them both into the hall. She insisted them to get a picture together. Mr. Cooper insisted the comic writer and the soccer captain to start the dance. The night was one of the best nights in her life. She had their picture on her phone as the lock screen now.

Months passed. Jada had to write their story in ‘Lover’ when her readers started getting angry on her. Jada and Kevin alias ‘Jake’ went popular. They got close over the months. They had even gone for a movie without Abigail. Abigail however, was over George Acorn after that night. She just went 'aww' for Jake

Unexpectedly, it ended in a break-up one week before the summer vacation. It seems Jada forgot his birthday and people noticed; which huge embarrassment for Kevin. Kevin got angry and he went

‘You don’t remember my birthday, do you?' But you never forget to wear that stupid wedding ring you grandmother's ex gave her to wear on the index. I’m not even close to that ring to you, am I?’

Kevin knew that ring meant something to Jada. He knew everything. She loved him for everything but if he cannot love her because of the ring, if he gets so annoyed over the ring, she thought to leave him was the best thing.

She called Abigail and asked ‘Are you not my friend because I broke up with your brother?’ Abigail assured Jada she’d never do that. Jada and Kevin never even looked at each other in the hallway. The last day before the vacation, Kevin stopped Jada in the hallway and said ‘I’m sorry. I knew how much it means for you. I was a jerk. I should have never-’ Jada didn’t care to listen. She stormed out the hallway and walked as fast as she could. She went to her room and started crying for no reason. When she stopped crying a bit, she looked to her ring. She went to the window and held her hands in the bar. She slowly removed the ring from her finger and kept it above the table.

She turned away and she turned back hearing something. Was that Kevin? She turned around and looked through the window. She heard that noise again. She looked down to the ring. It was glowing. She took it and started admiring. She slowly tried inserting it into her index. But she couldn’t. The ring somehow moved and got into her ring finger. She was in all the horror. She felt her head dizzy and turning. She saw flashes. A bride, A terrifying creature in a wedding gown, a girl’s smile and then a scream were in those flashes.

She opened her eyes and she saw Kevin. Kevin was completely dressed in black. It was not clear but she recognized his voice.  Then she heard Abigail and then her mom.  She was in her bed. She closed her eyes and opened them again. Everything was being clear again. Everyone was in panic. She asked ‘What happened’. Kevin held her hands so tight and said ‘You just fainted’. Jada hugged her mother and said ‘I’m fine mom’. She drank some water and stood up.

Jada said she’s going to shower. Everyone went out of her room. When she came downstairs, she saw Abigail. Jada guessed that Abigail was staying. She maintained a smile. Abigail and Jada walked to the balcony and Jada started narrating. Abigail would believe Jada anyway.

The next morning, Kevin came to her home and the three decided to go to a place with no one around. They went to a closed hotel and Jada started explaining the same story to Kevin.

‘I knew it!’ he said. ‘How?’ asked the girls. ‘I’m the one who saw Jada first and I saw her ring on the ring finger. I’m the one who put it back to the index’

Kevin had done a little digging on Raven Ice. Raven Ice’s brother Neville Ice and his family live in the next town.

Jada got up immediately and said ‘let’s go’. ‘Now?’ asked Abigail. ‘Okay’ said Kevin. Abigail stared at Kevin. He’d do anything to get Jada back. As they were walking out, George Acorn and his little sister were walking in. 'Abby?'- He asked. His sister with a yellow bow on her head asked 'You know these intruders?' Kevin decided to play hero. He asked in style 'One thing, your right to call my sister Abby ended when she broke up with you and two, why the hell are you here?'

'Why the hell am I here? I'm standing on my property. I may have to remind you that you are the intruders'. 'We can get you locked up you homeless people'- the little girl with big mouth said and George threw looks at her. Abigail sighed and stepped forward. 'We three needed to talk privately and we couldn't guess of a better place. We're in a hurry so, can we just-'

'It's fine Abby'- said George and Miss Acorn just rolled her eyes. 'Abby!?'- Kevin was still not out of the mood of heroism. Abigail stared at him. George looked at Abigail and asked 'Do you have any problem with that Abby?' Abigail just walked out and Ja-ke had to storm out.

They walked to the car. 'What the hell was that?'- Kevin asked his sister. 'What Kevin?' 'Didn't you broke up?'- he was ready for a fight. 'Is that the problem now.'- demanded Jada. When the girls got into the back seat, Kevin said ‘I’m not your driver’. Jada asked Abigail to sit in the front seat and they both laughed at Kevin. Abigail shouted 'Wasted!'

The journey took them to a street in Hefton. They asked a few people and finally Kevin pulled over in front of a green house. It was the only green house in the neighborhood filled with white, coffee, red and olive houses. Jada had gone into a different personality. Her actions were jerky and not at all confident. Yet she acted the most confident. Jada stride to the main door and gave a knock. Kevin went in front of her rang the calling bell. A woman in scarlet long top opened the door. She seemed to be in her 30’s. She had black eyes, short black hair in a ponytail. She was white as snow.

In the woman’s appeal, Jada asked ‘Do Neville Ice live here?’ The woman nodded and asked ‘that's my father. What’s the matter?’

‘We have to talk to him. Just a couple of minutes, that’s it’. ‘Do he know you?’ Jada sighed. Kevin stepped up and said ‘We just need to talk. He doesn’t know us but it has something to do with his brother Raven Ice’. ‘Wait here’- the woman said and closed the door. ‘What’s your plan?’-asked Abigail. To that question Jada only said ‘Talk’. After about a fifteen minutes when Jada was about to know again, the woman opened the door. She led the teens up the staircase to a balcony. A man in his 70’s looked up from his wheelchair. The three sat opposite to the old man. Jada asked him ‘Do you know Alice? Alice Killian… uh… Alice McAllister?’ ‘Yes. I think I do. Alice Ice was the familiar name’. ‘I am her granddaughter. The name is Jada. Jada McAllister. These are my friends’. ‘Why are you here actually?’ Jada showed her hands to the man and asked ‘Do you know this thing?’ The old man frowned and said ‘Raven Ice’s promise of love. I couldn’t walk through the hallways that day. ‘How’s your sister-in-law? They asked. Those were the worst days of my life. A while after my graduation, he was shot dead’’. ‘Do you know where he got this ring from?’

‘Never bothered to care. Why the hell do you want to know anyway?’

‘It’s hard to explain. Do you know anyone who might know? A best friend, perhaps?’

‘There was this guy called Harry Olive. Haven’t heard from him in decades.’

‘Can you please tell me anything else you knew about this ring? Something? At least why my grandmother would have gave it to me?’

‘Raven was crazy. They both were. I don’t even miss him. Honestly, I don’t. Never did in all these years. He was a joke so was their Fu- relationship. He gave her first priority. It was always like that. Yesterday was his anniversary. I had almost forgotten. Good thing there are reminders in the cell phones. Can’t you really tell me what this is about? We got all day’

‘Will you believe if I said this thing moved from my index to the ring?’

The man’s eyes widened. He knew something. ‘Ravenna!’- The old man yelled. The woman rushed in and the old man spoke ‘Get me my phone!’ The woman came back with the phone. He asked her to dial Thomas Hill. The phone was on speakers. As soon as Thomas Hill said ‘Hello Neville’, he yelled ‘It’s happened! Raven’s ring!’ The man ended the call. He asked Jada to save that number and call the guy. He said he’ll call them if anything happened. The old man saved their number and asked the woman to take them away. Jada was dumbstruck. Kevin dragged her away.

In the car, Abigail broke the silence: what the hell!

It was like a start of some riot. Jada was sitting silent. Kevin was totally freaking out. He started to yell when he saw Jada sitting like a statue and then, Bang! Jada only remember falling backward from the air and hitting the road.

Jada wakes up to her bed in the morning. ‘Kevin!’- She yelled as she awoke. Abigail was just getting up. ‘What happened? Are you okay?’- asked Abigail. Jada asked to herself ‘A dream?’

‘Get the phone!’ Jada yelled an Abigail threw her phone over at once. She memorized and dialed that number. Someone picked up. ‘Thomas Hill?’- She asked. To the horror of her life, it was Thomas Hill.  She immediately hung up. Got ready as in the dream and hoped onto Kevin’s car.

Kevin drove them to the very place and Jada started narrating everything perfectly. Kevin was astounded to hear Jada say what he did. The three decided it was better for them to visit Thomas Hill first. Kevin dialed Thomas Hill and did the talking. Man to man, Kevin said the policy was.

Kevin drove 5 miles and the three were welcomed into the cozy living room of Thomas Hill. He’d only be 50 years old. His family had gone to San Andreas to visit a friend. Jada was asked to talk. She took in a deep breath and began the story

‘Mr. Hill, I am Jada McAllister. This is a ring I inherited from my grandmother. This is a wedding band as you see. It’s for engaged women. My grandmother wore it in the index. She had her wedding ring on the ring finger. This ring was given to her by her boyfriend in high school. The name was Raven Ice. He made a promise to put that ring on her ring finger one day. He was then shot dead in the school fire and years later my grandmother Alice Killian, now Alice McAllister married my grandfather’

Thomas Hill sighed. ‘Alice Ice was her familiar name. I don’t know how much you’d believe but as you’ve seen a lot more, let me just say that thing is cursed. It’s not from around here.’

‘What do you mean not from around  here’- asked Abigail. ‘It’s from another world. Raven Ice’s great grandfather Jack Ice was a crazy man. He had gone bananas. He bought this ring, tore the membranes of all worlds and married his old flame. Jack Ice lost his way. That ring was enchanted or cursed from that realm. Raven Ice, another crazy lover, took that ring and gifted it to his lover but the boy never intended to do that. He had too fallen in the curse. Each one that wears this ring would have their influence over it and would be trapped in it. It might be your grandmother that’s led you to me in your sleep. But you didn’t continue there. You died and you woke up.’

‘What am I supposed to do?’- asked Jada.

‘You can’t throw this into a river and never turn back. Curses are not broken that easy. It should be done with you for the good. Your grandmother is guiding you. Maybe sleep or dream might be a world, realm or it might be just a medium through which you can break free’

‘Sorry to interrupt but who are you and how do you know all of this?’

‘You told me through the phone every details of the dream. I am a specialist in parapsychology. My brother and Neville Ice were the best mates. I had taken an interest in this. Neville Ice was disturbed by Raven Ice’s demon and I know everything abnormal that family deals with. This Raven Ice is a trapped soul. Your grandmother might be trying to save him from there through you’

‘I should just go to sleep now?’

‘And make sure you don’t die. I’ve dealt with a couple of cases but this is the worst. You three are teens. You should be at some arcade. I pity you. There’s no escape Jada. Your grandmother is your doom. You can come back to me if that doesn’t work ’

The three walked out. Jada asked them to drive to her home. There were no one in the house. Her mom had gone for work and her dad had gone to have fun with his mates in the bar. Jada walked upstairs to her room. She looked at them and said ‘I am going to sleep. Don’t say anything now. Don’t try to wake me up. If you want you can leave and -’

‘I can’t leave you Jada!’- said Kevin

‘See you when I wake up then. Bye Abigail.. and Kevin’ she lay down and after a couple of minutes, she had fallen asleep.

She went through the same routine and made sure Kevin drove with care. They met Thomas Hill and Jada fell asleep in the sleep to wake up into a black space. She walked around for a while. It was only black all around and then after hours of walking, she saw a boy. He’d must be a high schooler. He was wearing a blue overcoat and blue jeans. He was standing there facing the other direction. She called out

‘Hello?’

He turned around and saw a handsome black eyed and black haired boy with pink lips. But he was shot and there were blood stains in the white tee shirt.

‘Who are you?’- He asked to Jada. He ran to her. He seemed to notice the ring on her index

‘How do you have Alice’s ring?’- He demanded.

‘I am Jada. You must be Raven Ice. I am Alice’s granddaughter. I am here to save you from the curse.’

‘Granddaughter?’- his eyes widened

‘I’m sorry Raven. You were shot dead and Alice was alone. She found my grandfather at her 20's and married him. That many years she mourned for you. She died a while ago. She wanted me to keep this ring from the moment I turned 13. She loves you and sent me to save you. Please, rest in peace and let her rest in peace. We don’t have much time. I have to get to my world’

‘There is a zombie. At least it looks like the one from the movies. It is ugly. It’s a bride at least it is dressed as one. It’s looking for someone. It horrifies me. I have escaped each time it came behind me. I heard it say it wants to kill me more and kill Alice.’

Jada ran to a direction and Raven was running behind her until they finally found it. It was horrible to look at. Dressed in a white wedding gown, French bun and wedding veil. It had a bouquet on its hands and one eye was missing. It didn’t have one slipper and the worst, it didn’t have flesh on half the face. It was just the bones. There wasn’t a nose and the skin looked completely green. There was a horrible smell. Jada drew back at first. Then she ran with all her might to the bitch with her fist which has ring and punched it. The ring emitted a white pure light and the zombie bride was made into ashes. She turned to Raven Ice who was disappearing in a white light. He smiled at her. Jada smiled back. She closed her eyes and when she opened them, it wasn’t her ceiling she saw.

She got up in a shock and looked at her hands. They were different. Big. There was a glucose tube. She looked around and saw herself in a white room. There was a black cupboard with a mirror. The curtain was drawn apart to a city. She was in a white dress. A hospital dress. She yelled ‘Kevin! Abby! Kevin! I’m back! I did it! Kevin Please! Kevin!’ She was crying. She closed her eyes again but nothing worked. She is in her world but this couldn’t be, she thought. She stood up clutching to the stick that held the glucose. She walked with slow steps yelling Kevin’s and Abigail's name repeatedly. She looked to her fingers and saw that the ring had disappeared. All of sudden a brown haired boy almost of her age opened the door. She walked back demanding who he was and asked where Kevin was.

‘I thought you’d never wake up’

The boy said in a surprised tone. A bunch of other teens stormed into the room behind him.

‘Where am I?’

She started crying desperately. The boy remembering something, said

‘I am your step brother. Calm down! Everything’s going to be alright. Your mom Karen would come home soon. We have moved from our old neighborhood. This is LA. Los Angelo’s.’

The boy slowly dragged Jada in front of the mirror. Jada screamed. She was a grown up.

‘How old-’- Jada was asking

‘23’- answered the boy before the question was asked. He continued ‘It has been seven years.’

He immediately took out his phone and dialed Karen. He handed it over to Jada without a word. ‘Mom?’- asked Jada. ‘Sweetheart?’- Karen was surprised and she burst out to tears. Jada cried horribly. The boy snatched the phone and walked out of the room. The other kids stared at her. A girl came forward and said

‘My name is Hilari. It’s okay. I know it’s hard. But you are back. You will see your family and friends soon. I’m your friend and that boy, Harry is your brother. Don’t worry’

She consoled Jada and helped her take the glucose off. Jada was made to drink some water. After a while, Karen, her mother it was but she had grown older and became more mature. There wasn’t make-up in her face. Karen hugged Jada and burst into tears again. Jada who was now free of mind, didn’t cry. She consoled her mom. Thanks to the energy given to her by Hilari. Jada just asked ‘Mom? Where is daddy? And? Kevin? Abby? Where are they?’

Karen started crying more desperately. She consoled herself and said

‘Let me get you dressed. Everyone is here. You will meet them shortly. Daddy just went out to get some milk’

Jada didn’t understand anything. Karen gave her dresses to her daughter and drove her to the hospital. There the doctor started

‘We never thought you would wake up again. That day after you fell asleep, you slowly entered a coma. There wasn’t much explanation for it. Something your mother want me to tell you is your daddy passed away three years ago in an accident.’

Jada couldn’t believe her ears. She started crying immediately in disbelief. ‘Daddy!’ she said between her tears. The doctor continued

‘Kevin and Abigail are fine. Abigail is in college and Kevin has completed Biotecnology from MIT. You will see them. Jada, I know that you are still a 15 year old in heart. But you are 23 years old. You have to accept the reality. You have a lovig family with a mom, stepdad and a step brother. You are back to life. I shouldn’t have said it all. But this was for the good.’

It might have been. After about some hours she was back at the apartment talking to Hilari. She asked for her phone so that she could dial Kevin. Hilari did get the phone for her but she added ‘Are you sure? It’s been 7 years. Would Kevin still be-?’

Jada’s heart ached. But how could Kevin? It can't be, she thought. But then, they were just kids when they fell in love. They were just kids when he believed in her. They were just kids.

Just Kids

Jada couldn’t keep jer thought of Kevin away from her. He said he'd be there with her. Jada couldn’t agree with the reality. Kevin just forgot her? It can't be and then, she doesn't know. Maybe, it can. She called her brother and asked desperately

'If Hilari woke up after a coma of seven years, would she find you with another girlfriend?'

Harry didn't know what to say. He managed to think about something and said 'I don't know. Now, Hilari is the only one. Now, I'm a 15 year old. Would I wait for her even wighout knowing that she would wake up? I haven't thought about that. She is what only matters to me and I just… don't know to be honest'

That night, Jada decided that when Kevin comes, keep the distance because he couldn’t be hers anymore. Kevin might not be the Kevin she knew.

The next day, Abigail came to her. They hugged each other and narrated each others story. Whenever Kevin’s talks came up, Jada pushed it away.

That night when Jada was almost about to crash her bed, there were rings and knocks in the front door. Karen went and when she opened the door, Jada saw from the hallway a man. A man with beard. A man she not knew. A man who was the boy called Kevin Carl. She could recognise him from the hallway. Her heart beat faster. She stood her ground. Tears were ready to start. She folded her hands tightly and did nothing except stare. Kevin’s hair had grown a lot beautiful. He was wearing big shirts and baggy pants. His eyes had the same look for her.

Kevin, just like Jada, only stared. Jada had changed. But she looked like her. She was beautiful. She looked beautiful though she had messy braids, no-make-up and pajamas.

Karem broke the moment: 'Kevin! Wasn't expecting you at this hour. Well, come in'

He walked in and when he kept his bag down, he asked 'Can I take Jada out?'

Karen nodded in confusion and walked to Jada pushing her into her room and shutting the door behind her for her to get ready. Jada didn’t knew what was happening. She just wished if she were dead at the moment. She took in a deep breath. She pulled her hoodies in. Karen dragged her to the front door and shut them out.

When Kevin  held out his palm, she couldn’t give hers. She just couldn’t. Kevin wasn't expecting that though he expected awkwardness in its prime.

He walked up to the terrace which was the most loneliest place in the universe at the moment. Jada followed him and kept staring at the ground. He walked closer to her and asked 'What is is it J?'

'Nothing. How have you been'

'Not good. Put myself into a bunch of books.'

'And?'

'Abbigail went on with life. But I didn't. I promised you'

Jada looked up. She whispered 'I thought that you might have'

'Forgotten?'

'Kevin…I'm..-'

He pulled her into a hug and said

‘I knew it. I waited 7 years. I knew you’d come back. That guy said you'd wake one day when you win or else you will die when you lose’

Kevin had waited Jada all those years wasting the time in his life. Both of them had sacrificed for two things known in the same name ‘love’.

Years passes. Jada Carl was one of the prominent comic writers of the united states. She was known for her book ‘Ring of Love’ which was in the shelves of fiction. Jada Carl unlike her grandmother, had one ring in her ring finger. It was one Cartier 750 ring. A variation of the very ring her grandmother had in the index.
