IWSG: January
Hola and Hello!
Señorida Anastasia here
January 8 question - Describe someone you admired when you were a child. Did your opinion of that person change when you grew up?
I admire a lot of people. I'm going to tell you about a person I stopped admiring within a year. She was something like a best friend. During the pandemic, we all made friends online and this girl in my new school was one of those online friends.
She was good, used to study brilliantly, loved and very good mannered. Later, we stopped talking, she made friends with a gang and started failing, getting into troubles and would rather wear make up and look around for boys than anything else.
Like a high school drama on TV? Yeah, I know right.
Writing update: Looking for agent. Got any suggestion to find a YA Contemporary Romance Agent????
PS..... I have a question
Are agents honest when they say 'after a close consideration'
Life update: Got 9/10 A+ and the one B I've got is in physics:)

Sad when friends part ways and start going down a dark path.
ReplyDeleteCheck Natalie's Literary Rambles site - she has a huge list of YA agents.
Yeah , it hurt when she changed. I have been checking on Literary rambles and I did sent out a query this week. Thank you!
DeleteWay to rock those grades!! I'm old enough to have had scores of dear friends fade away. Some just moved in different directions, some to different countries, and some just disappeared (especially in early years). But memories of your time with them last a lifetime - any provide fodder for good secondary characters!) Write on!!
ReplyDeleteThat is true.... good memories last and that's the best that could have been made out of friendships. Thank you!
DeleteHi, Rida! Congratulations on how well you did in your studies! Your parents must be very proud of you. I always feel sad when I hear of girls turning to boys to define their worth, and then when things spiral down into gang friendships, failing, and getting into trouble, it's tragic. I was always told that I needed to be able to stand on my own two feet and not to depend on a man. My father, my grandfathers, and some of my great grandfathers died far too young, and so their wives had to be able to survive on their own. I have no idea if "after a close consideration" is an honest statement. Keep submitting! Wishing you all the best as you continue your search for an agent. If I learn something, I will let you know. Take care! And Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteFunny thing... I don’t know if they're really proud of me. I'm Indian and you must have heard of the Asian parents meme on internet. My parents were kind of worried about the one A+ I lost:)
DeleteIt is indeed sad when they think they'd have to have boyfriends to look cool and be loved their friends. Most times it's just a game to look cool.
Thank you!!!
Great job on those grades! Unfortunately, I don't know anything about querying agents. All the agents I contacted years ago turned me down flat. All I can suggest is if you're serious about that route to keep working at it, keep improving, and don't take rejection too seriously. Being a writer means taking ALOT of rejection. Happy New Year!
ReplyDelete'Except dissapoint and you'll never actually be dissapointed'(Spider Man) is something I tell myself before each query. Thanks to the writers who've asked me expect hundreds of rejections including you! Thank you!!!
