IWSG: March 3.... If I could be
Hola and Hello!!!
The awesome co-hosts for the March 5 posting of the IWSG are Ronel Janse Van Vuuren, Pat Garcia, and Liza @ Middle Passages!
Thanks!
March 5 question - If for one day you could be anyone or *thing* in the world, what would it be? Describe, tell why, and any themes, goals, or values they/it inspire in you.
This doesn't seem like a hard question but no matter how hard I think, I really don't think I'd want to be anyone else. But if I could indeed be someone....even if it's just for a day, I'll choose to be a younger sister to a brother(like 5 or 10 years older).
I am the oldest child in my family and I have two younger brothers. But I have always wanted a big brother. It's a hole in my life. No matter how hard I try to think of my cousins or younger brothers in that spot, I'm pretty sure that it's really something else to have a big brother.
tbh, I miss my cousin brothers who used to be my big brothers atleast for a minute when they suddenly see me for the vacation once a year. Now, they're all grown up, working, married and parenting!!! They really don't care. None of us don't even actually talk right now.
It's a really weird choice to which I may not have a gigantic reason. But growing up, is still really messed up for me. I'm turning fifteen this week:) Gosh! The times! If I had an older brother, I'm pretty sure that my life would have been way better. So.... I'd give anything in the world to be a little sister on her brother’s lap watching Captain America: Civil War and pointing at Spider Man....back in 2015:)
But the lack of it, actually led me to write my first manuscript. In the story, we have a scarred protagonist who struggles mentally for years after her older brother’s death. No matter what, she couldn’t find a moment that she doesn't think would have been better with her brother around. Now after really completing the writing, I don’t know if I'm taking the right step.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteAn older brother can be very dominating, especially when you're fifteen years old.
Shalom shalom
All my friends with big brothers say the same thing to me
DeleteIt's interesting how your want for an older brother found it's way into your writing. I'm the oldest in my family, and I used to feel the same way. But now I see that it's nice the way things are--and I have an amazing younger sister.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! Things are nice in the way they're meant to be.... I guess. It's just that at times I feel differently. Hopefully I grow out of it too.
DeleteI'm sorry! Family dynamics change as we age.
ReplyDeleteBitter truths:)
DeleteAnonymously Esther O'Neill, in a UK dead zone, 0 G. - no signal at all. Yes, families change. Growing up, my grandparents were almost my foster parents - and I had two wonderful big brothers, my uncles, really. Perhaps they never wished for a baby sister, but they were incredibly patient, encouraging adventures too. The first one married when I was nine, the other when I was thirteen. Soon, I had a new position - big sister to their little children . The elder uncle/brother was getting his first science fiction stories published, and encouraged me to write too. Enjoy your writing. .
ReplyDeleteAs you get older the age difference won't matter so much, Rida. I have a brother who is 14 months younger than me. He's been an immense tease as long as I can remember. My nickname for him is the instigator, because he knows how to push my buttons better than anyone else. We're friends in a way we never were when we were teenagers, but I expect he'll tease me until the end. Which makes me very happy! All the best to you!
