The Widow: A poem by Señorida
POEM
The Widow
Yesterday I wore a white dress.Today I wear his black shirt.I’ll wear it all my life.No, it doesn’t hurt.How can my love’s cologne sting?My emergency number doesn’t ring.Yesterday I was safe and sound.Today I’m dangerous and loud.I don’t want this crowd.How can I stand without my arm?
Lizzy is asking for her father.I remember I’m also a mother.Yesterday she had his shoulder.Today she hides in my smother. How can I walk her down the aisle?
The Widow is a short poem by Señorida. It has always intrigued me how love blooms and evolves. This is one aspect of love. It's strong, brave and inspiring!
