The awesome co-hosts for the February 4 posting of the IWSG are J Lenni Dorner, Victoria Marie Lees, and Sandra Cox!

February 4 question - Many writers have written about the experience of rereading their work years later. Have you reread any of your early works? What was that experience like for you?

Firstly, I'd like to thank the co hosts.

Before answering the question, I'd like to happily announce that I've signed up for self publishing with a small press here in India.

Soon--I'll actually be published!!!

I don't have big expectations but I do hope that I'd be able to make a few readers--even one is more than enough. I can't still believe that in a few days time, I'll be a holding a printed book.

I never thought I'd take this risky step but then I thought--why not?

And then I just signed the contract:)

All I've written is a few messy drafts, a few blogs and one book. I can tell you about re reading the stories I wrote when I was eight years old. THE WICKED WITCH. I think that the title itself explains a lot:)
It was the funniest I could have ever been.

And I don't have that story anymore because that laptop is cooked:)

How was the first month of the year?

Mine was fine except nearly failing mathematics, some other bad grades, my brother breaking a bone and my dad buying a lot of medicines after a surgery.

But life's great. I'm full of hope.

  3. Have fun with the writing! I guess those of us older than dirt have this advantage: none of my childhood writing was on a computer, so it's not lost to technology. Lost to time and many moves, and housekeeping, but some of it has survived. I even wrote a "book" of poetry before I could spell the word "poetry". It's nicely preserved between two covers cut from cardboard and decorated with crayons :D

  4. That's awesome! Best of luck with the book contract!

I'm sorry you lost your Wicked Witch story. It's impossible to hold on to all your old writing, but it's good to hold on to a few things if you can. I'm 42 now, but I still have some of the "books" I wrote when I was young. They're terrible, but flipping through them now and then a nice reminder that I've always loved to write.
